Sports and entertainment venue London Stadium has entered into a long-term partnership with Stansted Airport.

The partnership aims to help travellers, sports and music enthusiasts have easier access when travelling between the station and the airport.

Enabling the link is a direct coach route from the Stratford-based Stadium to Stansted, which takes as little as 37 minutes.

Four Stansted Express trains per hour run from nearby Liverpool St, affording easy access from east London and further afield.

London Stansted's managing director Gareth Powell said: "We’re delighted to announce our exciting new partnership with London Stadium, bringing together London’s fastest growing major airport, with the iconic home of the London 2012 Olympics that now sits at the heart of the transformational regeneration of Stratford and the surrounding areas.

"London Stansted is the second biggest port of entry for visitors to London, so as the closest major international airport to the Stadium and with quick and direct public transport links, we will provide convenient, easy and affordable access to thousands of people every year wishing to visit London Stadium plus the shops, restaurants, offices and university close by.

"This partnership will not only give London Stansted a global profile at major sporting and entertainment events, it will also cement our commitment to continuing our work in the local area, helping provide jobs plus skill and training opportunities for people wishing to join us at the airport."

Graham Gilmore, CEO of London Stadium, added: "We have a shared vision to do more, do things differently, and do them better, while providing the best possible experiences for our visitors.
