Six intrepid fundraisers braved a tandem skydive for West Essex disability charity Accuro.

Stansted-based father-and-daughter duo Olly and Alex, Takeley mother-and-son Zoe and Archie and Adam and Ellis from Bishop's Stortford IT company Genmar took on the challenge at the North London Skydiving Centre on Sunday, May 19.

Takeley mum Zoe Partridge is also the scheme coordinator for Accuro's adult projects in Uttlesford.

Arriving early on Sunday morning, two skydivers took to the skies with the other four following shortly after, each receiving a certificate after completing the skydive.

Between them, the group has raised £4,151.85, including gift aid, for Accuro.

Olly Pocknell, who took part with his daughter Alex, said: "My youngest daughter Alex told me that she’d like to do a skydive for her 21st birthday this year so we decided to find a small local charity to raise money for.

"When we heard about Accuro we knew that we had found the charity for us. We wanted the money we raised to make a real difference to service users and their families’ lives.

"The jump itself was incredible! We both had a bit of last-minute nerves but once on the plane there was no going back.

"The noise during free fall was very loud and contrasted with the absolute quiet once the parachute opened!

"Would we do it again? Without doubt!"

Adam Braden, from Genmar, added: "What a truly incredible experience, it has to be up there with one of the best things I have ever done.

"Accuro is a fantastic charity that has supported a close family member of mine for some time now.

"I have been able to see first-hand how valuable the service they provide is and the impact it can have for people with disabilities and their families, which is why I was happy to get involved for such an important cause!"
