The National Express has upgraded its services to offer faster journeys from London to Stansted Airport, from next month.

Customers will be able to reach the airport in as little as 45 minutes with the changes effective from Friday, July 12.

Along with the new fast service, three new stops have been introduced on the A8 route - Tottenham Hale, Farringdon and Barbican, and Kings Cross St Pancras - in a bid to provide reliable transport choices to customers.

John Boughton, commercial director for National Express UK and Ireland, said: "In anticipation of a busy summer period, we are thrilled to be providing even faster, better connectivity between London and Stansted Airport this year, with our coaches now as frequent and virtually as fast as rail services - but at a much lower price."

The coach operator is also increasing other airport services between the city of London and London Stansted Airport - on the A6, A7 and A9 routes.

This includes increasing journeys on routes between the airport and London, resulting in almost 200 round trips per day, providing customers with increased journeys to and from Waterloo and Southwark.

From July 12 both stops will be served twice as often, increasing the frequency from hourly to every 30 minutes.

These increases follow a 25 per cent rise in customers who used National Express last year, with more than 19 million customers travelling on its coach network during 2023.

London Stansted Airport witnessed a record-high passenger count in April 2024 and a 10.8 per cent increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year.

According to the company, travellers can anticipate a comfortable journey with leather reclining seats, free Wi-Fi, USB power sockets and a luggage allowance of up to 20kg.
