Saffron Walden's Bandstand Season 2024 is starting this week, with a full-line up of choirs and musicians.

Performances will take place at the bandstand in Jubilee Gardens for 12 consecutive Saturdays from midday to 2pm, finishing on September 21.

The season begins with CSD (Cambridge and Surrounding Districts) Brass on Saturday, July 6, performing as part of Brass Band Week.

CSD's musical director Christopher Lawrence said: "CSD are delighted to be performing as part of Brass Band Week in the beautiful and historic market town of Saffron Walden."

The next act will be Hadstock Silver Band on Saturday, July 13.

The u3a (University of the Third Age) will perform on Saturday, July 20, with the Saffron Harmony Choir and 'SWUKES' ukulele band.

Shorelines will perform on July 27, and on August 3 Djuology will perform a mix of gypsy jazz and swing.

Indie folk singer-songwriter Tabitha Lily will perform on August 10, before Wimbish Military Wives Choir.

On August 17 Escaping Today will perform indie, pop and rock, and Busketeers Choir take the stage on August 24.

The next several weeks will see performances by contemporary folk band Clark & Johnson, Harlow Concert Band, Saffron Walden Town Band and Saffron Building Society Community Choir.

The season is organised by Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC),  as part of their aim to provide regular, free community events and maintain public open space and communal green areas for residents to enjoy.

SWTC has thanked Saffron Walden businesses and Uttlesford District Council for their support, which helps maintain arts and culture within the town.
