Newport Amateur Theatrical Society is presenting a full-length comedy play, Never Mind the Butler, at Newport Village Hall next week.

The play will be staged on Thursday, July 18, Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, with performances taking place at 8pm.

Never Mind the Butler is written by Lou Treleaven and directed by Steve Dunn, and revolves around the stately home of the Uppington family, which is in peril once again thanks to his Lordship's gambling.

To save the home from falling into the hands of Big Bob 'The Cheat' McBruiser, desperate measures must be considered - maybe even murder.

Told through the memoirs of the butler Travers (Stuart Savill), it's up to Lord and Lady Uppington (Will Murray and Yvonne Hannant), their daughters Elizabeth and Marjorie (Lizzie McMillan and Becky Monk), plus the Dowager Countess (Jacqueline Pullen) to try to save the estate.

Maybe Lord Ramrod (Suran Jayathalika) is the answer - or is it Mike Ferrett the hermit (Steve Dunn)?
