Saffron Walden's Bandstand Season finished celebrating British Brass Band Week on Saturday, with a range of musical performances still to come.

Hadstock Silver Band performed at the weekend, entertaining audiences with a mix of brass band classics and popular music.

The band's musical director Di Pannell said: "We were delighted to entertain and bring brass banding to the community as part of Brass Band Week – the bandstand acoustic is wonderful and we are already looking forward to next years’ season already!

"The age of band members range from eight to over 80 and includes ex-professionals as well as enthusiastic amateurs.

This weekend, on Saturday, July 20, u3a (University of the Third Age) will take to the bandstand, with the Saffron Harmony Choir and SWUKES ukelele band.

The choir's musical director Isobel Bradshaw and the ukelele band's musical director Mary Curtis will lead performers with a selection of popular music throughout the decades, designed to appeal to all audiences.

Other performers at the sessions include Shorelines, Djuology, Tabitha Lily, Escaping Today, Busketeers Choir, Clark & Johnson, Harlow Concert Band, Saffron Walden Town Band and Saffron Walden Community Choir.

The Bandstand Season is organised by Saffron Walden Town Council.

Sponsored by Arkwright and Co, the Bandstand Season will run weekly on Saturdays between midday and 2pm from the bandstand in Jubilee Garden.

The final session takes place on Saturday, September 21. The sessions are free to attend and there is no need to book.

Attendees who are coming from further afield are advised to use Swan Meadow Car Park.
