Students in Saffron Walden and surrounding areas are celebrating their results for A-levels and vocational qualifications today (Thursday, August 15).

Joyce Frankland Academy
Students at Joyce Frankland Academy in Newport have been praised by teachers for all the hard work they have put in this year.
Among the students celebrating was Bastie, who gained five offers to top drama schools across the country and has accepted an offer at LAMDA - which counts Jim Broadbent, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ruth Wilson among its alumni.
Braydon gained a place at Loughborough University to study maths. Teachers described Braydon as a "true role model for other students".
Meanwhile Faith is going to study drama at Anglia Ruskin University, and has been an "outstanding" cast member of school drama productions during her time at Joyce Frankland.
Principal Duncan Roberts said: "We are incredibly proud of all our students who received their A-level results today.
"Our inclusive Sixth Form celebrates the success and independence of our students, whether they choose university, apprenticeships, or the workforce.
"We take pride in nurturing their insight, imagination, and inquisitiveness, helping them achieve their ambitions.
"We wish them all the best for the future, and they will always be a significant part of the academy’s story."
Saffron Walden County High School
Saffron Walden County High School reported excellent results in both A-levels and vocational qualifications.
Daisy Burgess continued her brilliant performance from GCSEs by achieving four A*s in computer science, history, further maths and maths, and will now go on to study maths at Warwick.
Abigail Weersing also achieved the highest possible results at GCSEs and A-level, and will study maths at Durham University.
Another future maths student is Daniel Belteki, who will now take up his place at Cambridge University, having achieved the highest possible score in the admission step papers.
Charlotte Burke also achieved the highest possible GCSE and A-level results, and will now study ancient and modern history at Oxford.
Lewis Buchallet, who received A*AAA, will go on to study general engineering at Durham University.
Meanwhile Hannah Scothern - who achieved A*A*AA - will study natural sciences at Cambridge, joined by Sarah Meanwell, who received four A*s.
Finlay Houghton said he is proud of his "splendid" results of A*A*AA, and has accepted a place to study computer science at Oxford.
Stan Howard, who said he is "relieved and thrilled" by his distinction results in business and sport, is soon off to Nottingham Trent for pre-season hockey training and will be studying sports science and coaching.
Harry Wheeler and Marnie Dunlop are both delighted by their "fantastic" grades, and will take up places at the Italia Conte Drama School in London and The Guildford School of Acting.
Similarly, Claire Middleton has accepted a place at Surrey University to study sound and music recording.
Headteacher Polly Lankester said: "Students should be very proud of their achievements.
"I’d like to congratulate all our Year 13 students, and thank the SWCHS staff team for their dedication and commitment.
"I know that our students are going on to many exciting next steps, whether it is university, apprenticeships, or employment, we all wish them well and look forward to hearing about their future successes."
Amy Kennedy, director of Sixth Form added: "It has been a pleasure to work with the class of 2024.
"Over the two years, these students demonstrated such commitment to their studies as well as contributing enormously to the life of the school beyond the classroom.
"I have every confidence that they will achieve great things in their next steps!"
