A representative from Uttlesford Foodbank visited 10 Downing Street to urge the Government to take action during the cost-of-living crisis.
Stephanie Maxwell joined other charity representatives to hand in a letter to the Prime Minister, before Liz Truss's resignation.
The letter was signed by more than 3,000 volunteers working in the food aid sector, calling on the Government to take urgent action to ensure everyone has enough income to buy the essentials.
Uttlesford Foodbank said they are lucky to have such a generous community, but some foodbanks are struggling to cope as demand outstrips donations.
Stephanie said: "The impact of the cost of living crisis is most keenly felt by people on the lowest incomes, forced to live from day to day. It costs more to be poor.
"Many families have no option but to turn to a charity to make ends meet."
After handing over the letter, the group also met with the All Party Parliamentary Group on Ending the Need for Foodbanks.
Uttlesfood Foodbank continues to be busier year-on-year, and the team will be working hard to meet rising demand across the district.
A foodbank spokesperson said: "We are incredibly grateful to all our supporters who enable us to do this."
