The 1st Saffron Walden Scout Group welcomed the first 11 members of a new cub section, called The Curlews.
The new pack - which is named after a previous pack - is for children between the age of eight and 10.5.
Assistant group scout leader Kevin Rule said: "We wanted to keep in line with our heritage and giving them this name did just that.

"The Curlews unfortunately closed down over 15 years ago, but with an ever-rising increase in district waiting list numbers, we believed it was time to bring them back!
"We also renamed our existing pack back to their old name 'Swifts'."
