Staff and residents at The Grange Care Home in Newport held a 1980s-themed party to celebrate 40 years of Country Court care homes.

The party featured live entertainment as well as 80s food and dress-up.

Home manager Lijo Varghese said: "Everyone danced and sang the afternoon away with their friends and families.

"It’s been great to welcome guests from Debden Grange retirement village next door to join in with our events.

"It was great for our residents to make new friends, they loved all the songs and sang along with each and every one.

"Our chef manager Georgina Cross and team created a delicious barbecue which everyone enjoyed."

The home's wellbeing coordinator Yvonne Gray commented: "Residents loved singing songs from throughout their youth, especially resident Rita who couldn’t help but burst into song and dance.

"She gets everyone up and moving and has such an infectious smile that you can’t help but feel happy."

The party met with a positive response from residents' families.

The daughter of one of the residents said: "The music has been wonderful and the food has been positively delicious.

"We love events at The Grange, we can see that they make Mum feel very happy."

The home's receptionist, Amy, added: "I especially loved that families dressed up and got very involved with the theme. There were smiles all round."
