A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft of beloved pet Dachshund Twiglet in Saffron Walden.
At around 3pm on Wednesday, July 26, a burglar broke into a house in Catmere End.
Internal CCTV cameras showed a man smashing the patio door and taking 16-month-old Twiglet.
The following day (Thursday, July 27), Twiglet's owner was contacted by a member of the public who had seen the police appeal for her safe return.
Thankfully, she was then reunited with her owner, who said Twiglet was "a little subdued and stressed" by the experience and thanked members of the public for their help.
Essex Police worked alongside Bedfordshire Police as part of their investigation, and on Friday, August 4 a 46-year-old man from Bedfordshire was arrested and questioned on suspicion of burglary.
He remains on police bail in connection with the theft, but was charged and remanded in custody over unrelated matters.
The investigation continues and police are still looking for information and witnesses.
