Flowers bloomed and trophys were awarded at Saffron Walden Horticultural Society's Autumn Show over the weekend.
The show took place at the Golden Acre Community Centre on Sunday, September 17, following a challenging year for gardeners due to the hot June, wet July and August and September heatwave.
Exhibitors nonetheless produced nearly 90 entries to fill the tables, but this number was significantly down on last year and especially pre-pandemic.
The Babington Smith Trophy for the most points in the show was won by Hamish Davidson, along with the Sewell Cup for the most points in the vegetable section for his large onions.
In the fruit and floral section, Yvonne Bishop emerged victorious with the Acrow Bowl for most points and the Harry Green Cup for her petite flower arrangement.
Meanwhile David Livermore was award the John Coe Memorial Trophy for the best dahlia (Mary's Jomanda) and Vera Willson won the Harry Green Trophy for best rose bloom.
Vera Willson also came out top in the domestic classes with the Walker Trophy for the most points.
In the children's classes, Chloe Hollidge won the Scrivener Trophy for most points, along with 'Eric the Hedgehog' for the best exhibit - a flower made from modelling clay.
Hamish Davidson received the Ellis Rooke Cup for the most points in adult classes, while Chloe Hollidge received the Tom Green Cup for the most points in children's classes.
David Livermore, from the society, said: "I would like to particularly thank Yvonne Bishop who stepped in at the last minute to judge those classes she had not entered herself following the sudden illness of the booked judge.

The society has provisionally booked the hall for a Spring Show on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
However for the 200-year-old society to survive they are dependent on new members and exhibitors.
