Car parking incentives have been introduced in Uttlesford this Christmas in an effort to support local businesses and encourage more people into town centres.
Uttlesford District Council has operated a Christmas car parking promotion for a number of years in its pay and display car parks.
The 2023 promotion reflects local feedback and will be introduced in council-run pay-and-display car parks in Great Dunmow, Stansted Mountfitchet and Saffron Walden on particular dates.
Free parking will be available in Saffron Walden (excluding Fairycroft Road/Waitrose) on Friday, November 17 to coincide with the lantern parade and Christmas lights switch-on event.

There will also be free parking to encourages shoppers into all three town centres on Friday, November 24 on Black Friday.
Free parking will be in place on December 23 in the three town and village centres to encourage last-minute local shopping.
Cllr Geoffrey Sell, leader of the Liberal Democrat group, pointed out that this marks a "significant" reduction from last year - when free parking was offered in Saffron Walden from midday on five dates, four in Dunmow and four in Stansted Mountfitchet - with free parking all day in all three locations between Christmas Day and January 1, 2023.
