MPs and councillors are heading to an East of England Local Authority Water Summit in Little Chesterford this week.

The aim of the March 8 meeting will be to tackle water issues in the region, from development-related matters to flooding and drought.

Organised by the East of England Local Government Association (EELGA) and Uttlesford District Council, the summit will be held at Chesterford Research Park in Saffron Walden.

The event will provide a platform for those involved in planning, environmental affairs, highways, economic development and local authority leadership to share best practices.

Councillor Matthew Hicks, chairperson of EELGA, said: "Water issues present complex challenges for communities in the East of England across a wide range of areas.

"Many of our region’s councils have great examples of initiatives to navigate the complexities of water.

"However, we all have much to learn to address long-term challenges and this summit will help that."
