A resident of Mountfitchet House care home in Stansted recently got the chance to revive her passion for skiing after three decades.

The team at the care home made this possible after finding out about 68-year-old Clare Bell's longing to get back on the slopes.

Clare began skiing at just eight years old during a family holiday to Chamonix, France, and continued the hobby as an adult, even teaching her children.

After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1992, Clare had to take a break from the sport.

To fulfil Ms Bell's wish of returning to the slopes, the team at Mountfitchet House reached out to Snozone in Milton Keynes.

Clare said: "It was the best day ever, the adrenaline really kicked in and brought back such happy memories!"

Joanna Duke, home manager at Mountfitchet House, applauded Miss Bell's bravery as she said: "Clare is always sharing fond memories of her time skiing in her younger days, so it was fantastic to see her fulfil her wish to return to the slopes.

"Her enthusiasm and bravery is truly inspirational.

"I’d like to extend a big thank you to the team at Snozone, as well as to the team here at Mountfitchet House, for making Clare’s dream come true!"

The outing was planned as part of the home's Wishing Tree Initiative, which helps fulfil residents' wishes.
