Saffron Walden band The Flying Symbols are celebrating after being named winners of the Cambridge Band Competition 2024 at Cambridge Junction.
The competition has been running since 1985 - making it the longest-running band competition in the UK - with 108 bands applying to take part.
The Flying Symbols consists of lead vocalist Pete Cornell, drummer Mat Drewing, John Clements on bass and Joe Boutell on guitar.
Pete said: "I have never been so high, to win the Cambridge Band Cambridge Band Competition with my brothers The Flying Symbols. To try to explain how happy I am is impossible.
"Just to play on the stage at the junction was in itself an honour, to play alongside some of the best bands in Cambridge - in my eyes they all won!

"Thank you to everyone that came to support not just us but all the bands, without you there is no live music."
