A scout leader from Thaxted has been named 'volunteer of the year' at the BBC Essex: Make a Difference Awards.
Leanne Kell is section leader for scouting for 1st Thaxted Carver Scout group within the Saffron Walden district, and is leader and district commissioner for Girlguiding in Dunmow and Thaxted district.
Claire Dickinson - who also attended the awards - supports Leanne in both roles and is assistant section leader for scouting.
Both have been praised for working tirelessly to provide opportunities for the children of Thaxted, and between them are involved with Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers, Guides and Scouts across all age groups.
Leanne was named volunteer of the year in the BBC Essex awards ceremony at Hatfield Place, Chelmsford on Thursday, September 11.
When she accepted her award, there was a televised message broadcast from pop star Olly Murs, who judged the awards, saying: "I don’t know how you have time to even pick up this award with all the volunteering you do, but you thoroughly deserve this win.
"I wish I was there to give you a massive, big hug."
Leanne said: "Everything I do is for the children in our community.
"A strong sense of belief that no child should miss out regardless of additional needs/disabilities or their family’s financial situation.
"Inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. I love what I do and passionate that all children should enjoy different experiences and opportunities.
"It’s hard work but we have a lot of fun. Seeing the kid's smiling faces makes it all worthwhile."

A spokesperson for Thaxted Scouting said: "It was wonderful for Leanne’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to volunteering to be acknowledged and rewarded.
"Thaxted is lucky to have two very committed, dedicated, and enthusiastic volunteers.
"If you would like to enrol your child please register via the Scouting or GirlGuiding websites and Leanne will get in touch."
