One of the major events in the ladies' calendar at Saffron Walden Golf Club kick-started the year in style.
The Ladies Spring Meeting saw 46 players contest the Dorett Salver over 18 holes of medal play in the morning, before a further nine holes of foursomes in the afternoon.
New member Jayne Miles was delighted to win the top prize.
As a promising teenager in Yorkshire, she had a single figure handicap and was captain of Yorkshire girls before adult life got in the way.
But with very limited participation over 30 years, retirement and joining the club in December has allowed her to get back into the swing of things.
She started her round on the back nine and after taking two shots to get out of a bunker on the 16th, she dropped a further three on the first.
But very steady golf on the remaining holes resulted in a nett 73, one over par, giving her victory on countback from Wendy Wilderspin, also on nett 73.
Justine Voss was third on 75 while the other prizes on the day went to Anne Cunningham for the best front nine; Geri Still for the best back nine while the two prizes on holes with a nearest the pin challenge on them went to Mary Toll and Sally Moser.
A spokeswoman said: "It was a joy to see so many members eager to participate in this key event in the ladies' golfing calendar."
The event, however, was mixed with some sadness following the death of Doreen Ettling, who donated the salver shortly before the competition.
The spokeswoman added: "Her contribution to the club as a player and as a past captain will be long remembered."
