A tennis club in Saffron Walden have one of their always popular in-house competitions.
The Castle Hill Mixed Doubles event always attracts a good turnout from the members and this year the weather even played ball, drying out the grass courts at the Museum Street-based club just in time.
A total of 18 players took part in a round-robin format and after a good five hours of some fine tennis, it resulted in a win for Anne Taylor and partner Dave Hancock.
They narrowly beat Jane Carroll and Shriram Bhosle 7-5 in the final.
The latter had come back from being 5-3 down to tie it up at 5-5 but Taylor and Hancock powered through to lift the trophy.
